We understand that we have always been underserved in society making it difficult or costly to find sizes and styles that are flattering for our body types. We want to be a resource for plus size women to shop for affordable, trendy and fashionable new and pre-owned clothing without the hassle and disappointment of the small selections or out of style clothes at popular retail chains or thrift stores. A shopping experience exclusively for us thick chicks is finally what we deserve!
We embrace body positivity and the freedom it brings to be comfortable in all your curviness! There's a sense of empowerment when you can appreciate your body for it's beauty without shame..and show off your style in things that are comfortable and accentuate every curve! Breaking sterotypes of what society has deemed appropriate clothing to wear for our size or shape or age is what we do everyday when we wear whatever the heck we want and flaunt it with confidence!
At Curvy GURLZ Boutique, we offer a wide range of plus size clothing options in sizes XL-5X and 14-32 including casual wear, formal wear, activewear, shoes and accessories. Our products are carefully selected from donations, closeout sales, liquidations or retail clearance racks..We price lower than comparable items on popular selling platforms, taking into account the shipping cost, in order to be as affordable as possible without compromising quality.
As far as we know Curvy GURLZ Boutique is the only place of it's kind..with a business model of combining a plus size only "thrift" boutique, funding it's own nonprofit with programs of a parallel theme "Empowerment of Women". This unique idea gives all women the opportunity to support each other merely by shopping at our boutique! We hope it inspires you knowing your purchases are part of a much larger "tribe" of women who are facing a life crisis and need a helping hand. All of us should be on a mission to live with purpose and be intentional in showing grace to others because we can't ever know their journey..If we choose to help someone in need, what they do with that help is now their choice. It's when our kindness comes with expectations, conditions or implied ultimatums that it becomes something we're doing to satisfy or justify to ourselves, not simply an act of human compassion.
Women have always been faced with higher instances of negative and trauma-inducing circumstances given our obvious vulnerability. Statistics are that 41% of women have suffered some form of physical, sexual or stalking violence in their life. This gets more disturbing by the fact that only 10% of the population lives in poverty, yet 40% of single mothers are affected by poverty. This equals out to over 15 million children who are now living without a father in the home and/or without financial support of the father. These are dire times to be a one income household and raising kids alone especially if you have no family or support system. No one understands this better than other women. We all could be a divorce, paycheck, accident, illness, sudden death in the family..away from an emotional and or financial crisis! It's a sad but true reality for alot of us.
In a society rampant with negative, selfish and judgemental people its sometimes difficult to ask for help. We are expected to be strong for our kids..and we are..but the emotional stress of financial hardship, divorce, abuse, addiction or whatever has happened to create a crisis can be a silent demon countless single mothers live with daily. Imagine if we joined up in force as a tribe in protection of our own.. without judgement, prejudice or question..and shared our "positive energy"..with a supportive gesture, random act of kindness, or gift of something we can do without or are able to provide.. be a listening ear to simply express "I see you, I hear you. How can I help you?"...and do so selflessly without expecting anything in return. As women we respond to emotion. You never know when the smallest thing you do or say could be exactly what our sister needed in that very moment that gave her hope knowing is not alone.
